SPEAKER_03

Chatters, chatties, welcome home for a great American Chat, a podcast where we chat about great American media. I'm Chad Maurice with Cricket. Cricket, how you doing? How's your week going so far?

SPEAKER_02

It's going okay. Not too bad. I'm busy, but you know, not too bad. I can't complain.

SPEAKER_03

Can't complain. Okay. Are you ready to dive into this exciting third episode of one of the calls? Brookfield.

SPEAKER_02

You yes, I am.

SPEAKER_03

You and the Dono fans must have loved this episode.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I'm sure we did. I know I did. I can't speak for all them, but I I'm pretty sure they probably did too.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Uh do you know the title of this episode? You should, right?

SPEAKER_02

Brookfield? I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Since it was that's the title of the show.

SPEAKER_02

I know. I don't know. I don't I don't remember. I always forget to look at this, and I did not look at it today. So maybe it's called Love Spell. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

That's your guess? Love spell?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I thought you were gonna guess Trev. No, the title of the episode is Justice.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that's right. It is Justice. You're right. I do remember that.

SPEAKER_03

Where did Love Spell come from?

SPEAKER_02

I was just making it up. I was just thinking of the episode, and that was the first thing that came to my mind.

SPEAKER_03

So the storylines in this episode, we meet Justine Marcel in this episode.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, we do.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, somebody's here. Who's here? Hey, Victoria's here. Hey, Victoria.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, Victoria.

SPEAKER_03

Carter Williams arrives in town.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, he does.

SPEAKER_03

Nora's former boss. There's vocational day at the orphanage. And Sam's taking over the hotel and running, running it. And Ronnie's not happy about that. And then we have Wyatt not liking Hannah's clothing clothing designs. That's uh her design career there. That's that storyline continues from continued from the last episode. Which I have to say. Hey Melissa, Melissa's here. Which I have to say, out of all everything that was going on in this episode, that storyline was the one I was least interested in.

SPEAKER_02

Really?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Why? I don't know about you, but well, I mean, when you got all the other action and things going on, that one just kind of was overshadowed.

SPEAKER_03

It was just Yeah. Yeah. Well, not not really interested in that storyline. Because like it's like, hey, Wyatt, so she wants to design clothes and be a rancher. Get off her case. She can do both. I mean, what's that?

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

That's that's what I don't get about that story.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

All right. So the episode begins at the Lawrence Ranch with Hannah and Wyatt. Her investor for the collection she is designing is arriving from New York. And Hannah says her name is Justine Marcel. And Wyatt is a little annoyed that Hannah can't help with the chores. So I was kind of surprised. I thought that this Justine Marcel would be related to Nora's storyline. Yeah. And the the her boss bribing the judge. I thought she was gonna have something to do with that storyline.

SPEAKER_02

But she does Yeah, I kind of did too. Um I wasn't thinking it was gonna be for the um for the clothesline collection or whatever.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. Yeah, that kind of surprised me. Yeah. Uh, I'm gonna let you take it over for what's going on over at the orphanage.

SPEAKER_02

So over at the orphanage, we see Nora, Jenny, aka Dolores, is back in the show. Yeah. Um, and some of the kids. And Nora mentions that she is taking the kids on a field trip because it's a vocational day. And Jenny and Dolores, she's fixing Wally's pants by hand because somebody broke the sewing machine. And that was a very nice singer sewing machine, by the way. Um, Jenny Dolores thinks it's a missing spring, and she thinks one of the boys did it. And so um her and Nora are sitting there talking, and and you know, they're like, oh, one of them will fess up. They always do, you know, Nora says. So um, but yeah, so the sewing machine's broken. We don't know what happened yet. Um, and then do you want me to keep going?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, let me say I was surprised to see Jenny slash Dolores. I thought she was gone.

SPEAKER_02

I know we just talked about her the last time we did a recap. We're like, where is she?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because she wasn't in the first two episodes, anywhere.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, I'm I was glad to see her.

SPEAKER_03

I was glad to see her again.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, me too. I was too, but I was surprised.

SPEAKER_03

And did you notice how much older she looks and how much more mature she was? Yeah, she's uh grown a lot in the last year, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she really has. Yeah, she looked more mature, and even the way she presented herself, I think, was a little bit more mature than the last time we saw her.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that kind of surprised me. That she yeah, that she aged more than the other kids. Oh, I now now go ahead and continue.

SPEAKER_02

So then we see Nora and she's walking the kids into town, and um basically they're all talking about their jobs that they're gonna get in the different places, you know, and they're all kind of bragging about it. And then um one of them, I think it was Wally, he's like, Yeah, she did Dolores did a great job on my pants. And Nora's like, Yeah, she had to sew it by hand, and so she was like kind of prompting the kids to be like, you know, telling on themselves, but none of them fess up. So um, go ahead. Do you want me to do that one or you want to do that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, keep going.

SPEAKER_02

So then we see later, uh Jenny slash Dolores. She takes the sewing machine into Joe's store to see if he can fix it. Um, and he asks, you know, what happened to it, and she says, Well, I think it's a missing spring. Um, and then she looks at uh Wally and he says, Well, I didn't do it. And so, yeah, so they don't know yet what's wrong with it, but they know something happened to it.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, I thought this vocational story was was fun to see the kids helping out the adults in their in the in the stores.

SPEAKER_02

I know that is kind of cool. It's like a mentorship almost, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so we saw Wally at the general store and we saw Steve at the hotel, but we didn't see Art at the bakery.

SPEAKER_02

I don't even we see did we even see the bakery? No, yeah, I didn't think so. There was no scene of the bakery.

SPEAKER_03

When they were walking to town, Art said he's gonna be working at the bakery with Debbie, and the other kids were jealous. They said, Hey, how'd you get the bakery? I want to work at the bakery to be around all those sweets and bake goods, yeah. But they never showed him nope over at the hotel. Sam gets Ronnie out of bed because he has decided to open the hotel restaurant an hour earlier. He has also changed the menu. Ronnie says you are giving people more food for less money. Ronnie wants to talk about adding a third story, and Sam wants to talk about his idea, renting out the owner's suite, and Ronnie says, That's my suite, I'll be homeless. Hey, what what what do you think of Ronnie's jammies?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he had a robe over it too, and I was just like, Those are pretty nice pajamas, so he must live pretty well, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. Yeah, that was that was pretty funny. And fearless Fletcher was their first customer eating eating his hungry man breakfast.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. Every time they show him, and I remember when uh Cindy and Chris was on the podcast when you and I were interviewing that time, and he always she always said he always had food somewhere. And so every time on the show, when I see him eating, I always think about that conversation, and I'm like, Yep, there he is, he's eating it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, she said he's always eating on set. Ronnie says, There's no way we are not running my suite. Sam says, Okay, how about we we rename the hotel the Royal Gold Miner? Ronnie says, Absolutely not. Then Hannah walks up. Oh, what do you think about that name? The Royal Gold Miner.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, I don't really like it. Um I don't know, it just doesn't flow well.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It doesn't flow well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Hannah walks up and she says she needs to rent a room for a special guest. Ronnie says we will give her the deluxe suite. Sam says, How about we give her the owner's suite? And Ronnie says, over my dead body. Hanna says, I want her to have a good experience while in town. And Ronnie says we will give her the royal treatment here at the Royal Brookfield, since that's the name of the hotel. Ronnie looks for the guest book, but Sam has it. And Ronnie is upset that Sam is just taking over everything. Yeah. Now I thought watching this episode, I thought Sam was a little out of line trying to run everything, trying to take over, and you know, I mean, Ronnie's been doing this hotel for years, and Sam just became owner in the last episode. Now he's taken over and wants to run the show.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think he should have talked with Ronnie first. But you know, Ronnie, but in all fairness, though, Ronnie's not very approachable with new ideas either because he always shoots everybody down. You know what I mean? Or he finagles his way out of things or makes it his way and then tries to convince people it was actually their idea when it wasn't. So I kind of get why Sam did that.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but yeah, I I but yeah, he's making all these changes, and you're right, he's not discussing them with them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he needs to discuss them with Ronnie for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. All right, you can talk about this next scene at the Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So in Clearwater, we see Justine and Buck, which I thought was a funny name when he said his name. Um, and later on it really was funny. Um, but in Clearwater, we meet Justine. Uh, she's waiting for the stagecoach to uh take her to Brookfield, and she meets this guy named Buck, who is also waiting. And, you know, she's like, he's like trying to introduce himself and she's like, Oh, well, what do you do? And he's like, Oh, I make women's dreams come true. And she goes, All women. And I just thought that was so funny. And then he's like, Oh, yeah. And then he like basically tells her he's got diamonds in his briefcase. And she's like, Well, I wouldn't be telling people that. Like, that's not a very good thing to be telling everybody. And he's like, Oh, well, don't worry, I have a gun right here. The company gave it to me to use, and I'll use it if I have to, you know. Um, he said, No one's getting these from me. And he goes, You can count on it, you know, and being all bold and like boastful about it, you know, and thinking he's a real tough guy, right? But that's all I'll say on that one.

SPEAKER_03

And when he says no one's getting these from me, you can count on it. That's a little foreshadowing of what's about to come later. Yeah, that is true. Now, that was never explained though. Why did he have these diamonds in his briefcase? He never said what he did for a living or anything, you know.

SPEAKER_02

No, he just said he's taking these diamonds somewhere. I don't know if they were.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe sell jewelry, maybe. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

No, that was a lot of diamonds. That's all I gotta say. Yeah, a lot of diamonds.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I like this buck guy. I thought he was funny.

SPEAKER_02

He was funny, but yeah, he's kind of quirky. A little quirky. I know, I know, a little silly, and a little dumb, if you don't ask me, because you know, you don't tell people you got a whole briefcase of diamonds, like I know.

SPEAKER_03

Out on the street, duck, yeah. Out on the street, Nora tells Michael that Carter Williams, her old boss, is on his way to town. Carter wants to talk to her. Michael says there is something I want to talk to you about. Before he can get it out, Constable Reynolds rides up and interrupts. Uh Reynolds says, I got a tip that Johnny Green is going to rob a stagecoach today. So they ride off. So it was never revealed what Michael was gonna talk to Nora about. I was wondering what that was.

SPEAKER_02

I think he kind of felt bad from the previous conversation when she felt like he was like thinking she wasn't as as good of a person as you know she knows she is in a sense.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I think maybe he was gonna open up and you know, kind of tell her how he felt too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because he already apologized in the last episode about he did, but I think it was still eating at him. I think he may have been gonna tell her that he had feelings for her or something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think so.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, hey cat's here. Hey cat.

SPEAKER_02

Hey cat, hey Gene.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um, let's see. All right, you take this next one.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so then we see Fletcher and Constable Reynolds, and you call him Debbie Downer Reynolds. And they're sitting there and he's like, I'm only gonna warn you one last time. And Michael's like, Oh, only one last time. Um, but anyway, he says a mounty can't properly do his job if he is falling for someone with a pretty face who wears fancy perfume. And Fletcher's like, Well, Nora doesn't wear perfume, she she naturally smells good, basically, is what he was saying. Um, and he's like, Well, she's got you pretty wound, you know, pretty wrapped up tight. And he's like, he starts changing the subject and he said, Uh, is your source about Johnny Green a good one? And Reynolds is like, Yeah, he told me where the robbery was going to occur, and he's like, Yeah, nice job, uh, changing the subject. I see what you're doing.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Gene says he's not a downer. Yeah, he is. He's downer towards romance. He's a Debbie Downer.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but it might change, Chad. Just give it a couple more scenes.

SPEAKER_03

It might change. Yeah, yeah, it might change. All right, now we get the exciting stagecoach robbery here. So Justine and Buck hear gunshots while riding the stagecoach. Tough guy, tough guy Buck, who said earlier no one is getting his diamonds, hands them over faster than a speeding bullet. And speaking of bullets, he also hands over his gun. He gives it to Justine, who throws it out the window.

unknown

I guess.

SPEAKER_03

So I guess the stagecoach robbers can pick it up and use it. So they got an extra gun. The stagecoach gets robbed, the robber steals their jewelry, but Justine won't hand over her ring. But she eventually does. Fletcher and Reynolds are riding around and find the stagecoach. They catch the stagecoach robber, well, one of them at least, as he is making his getaway. The stagecoach driver, oh, this was hilarious. The stagecoach driver is knocked unconscious, and he just happens to wake up right when Reynolds rides up. And that was like so fakey. I mean, they should have had they should have had Reynolds go over and kind of shake him and shake him a little bit, yeah. Yeah, he just he just wakes up as soon as I'm gonna do it.

SPEAKER_02

I know it's like, oh, oh, you're here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, it was like, yeah, yeah. Obviously, someone off camera says, gave him a cue and said, Okay, wake up.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_03

We woke up right when Reynolds wrote up. Oh, Jean's, oh, what does Gene say? Always says, Gene says, wait a minute. Gene says you can't be that handsome and a downer at the same time.

SPEAKER_02

I agree, I agree, Gene.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. Melissa says that uh Buck should have learned how to use his gun. Yeah, he said that uh he was afraid of guns.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, if he's gonna brag about carrying it, he definitely should know how to use it, that's for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know. If he's afraid of guns, he shouldn't be carrying one.

SPEAKER_02

All right, I'm gonna let you carry diamonds for that matter.

SPEAKER_03

I know. All right, I'm gonna let you take over to this part.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So let's see here. So then Justine, uh after Reynolds walks up to the Sage Co driver, he goes up to open the the Stagecoast door, and at the same time, Justine leaps out and knocks him down onto the ground, and she lands right on top of Mountie Reynolds, and she tells him, and then she jumps right up when she goes, Well, you're not one of them. And so she tells him which direction the other robber went. And I think she totally like messed up uh, you know, Mounty Reynolds, because he was just not expecting her, I think. And it really threw him for a loop for a second. So he and he was like, It's okay, ma'am. And he's like talking, and you could just tell he's like, Oh wow, this is different. You know, there's just you could see the difference, you know, in how he reacts to women normally and how he reacted with her. And so you could just tell he was a little flustered. So anyway, so she tells him which way the other robber went, and then he takes off uh and he tells her that another Mounty will come along soon.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah, that was probably your favorite part of the episode, right? When she lands on top of him.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I just thought it was so funny because I really wasn't expecting her to leap out like that. You know, and so it was kind of like it was a surprise for sure. Um, but it was their chemistry when they are in scenes together, is just I don't know, it's just so natural. It it takes the scenes to a whole new level. I mean, I can't explain it, but they do it in other movies too. But their chemistry and the way they act with each other, it's undeniable that they have this connection. I mean, they really do. I mean, but yeah, it was a great scene.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they've worked together several times. Yep. Oh, you you can keep going.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Well, then Fletcher comes by and he puts uh the robber he arrested in the back of the stagecoach. And Fletcher, he doesn't have any of any of the loot on him, so Johnny must have it. He's talking to, and he's like, We can't, he's talking to Reynolds, and he's like, We can't put anyone in the stagecoach with the robber. So Buck runs up and sits up against with the stagecoach driver and leaving Justine to ride the robber's horse with Reynolds as a chaperone. So I thought that was a very good segue to making sure that Justine rode a separate horse with Mounty, you know, Reynolds.

SPEAKER_03

So um, so at this time they could have done the robber on his horse and just escorted it with him, couldn't they?

SPEAKER_02

Just handcuffed, they could have, but there's a chance that he could have maybe got away. You never know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, maybe. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

You know, it is it is a series, Chad. And it was a new love interest, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

Did did uh Fletcher get in the back of the stagecoach with the robber?

SPEAKER_02

I don't I don't think so.

SPEAKER_03

He didn't?

SPEAKER_02

I don't remember him going in there. No, actually, now that you say that, I don't remember him getting in there because they could they shouldn't they couldn't have they shouldn't have left him in the robber in the stagecoach by himself, right?

SPEAKER_03

I don't remember.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, unless he was handcuffed, I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he was handcuffed, but I bet but yeah, I bet you're right.

SPEAKER_02

I bet it's under the assumption since they had the other horse, that was probably Fletcher's horse. So yeah, okay, but I never saw him.

SPEAKER_03

The other horse was the robber's horse. No, I don't think he got in the stagecoach, you're right.

SPEAKER_02

I don't even think the stage uh the stagecoach never even took off out of that scene. So no, it's still sitting there on the road, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you're right, because there would have been three horses. Yeah, there wouldn't be two empty horses, there was only one. Oh, oh, Melissa said he rode beside the stagecoach. Oh, did he? Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe he was on the other side. We couldn't see him, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay, okay. Maybe I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna have to go back and rewatch that now.

SPEAKER_03

All right, keep going.

SPEAKER_02

She said, Didn't you love when he said, I'm here to save you, ma'am? And she says you're a little late for that. That's right, Gene. I forgot about that line.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's right. I'm here to save you, ma'am. Oh, that's right. She says you're a little late for that. Yeah, you're right. And then Buck starts freaking out, and then Reynolds Reynolds says to to him, I think you're in good hands with with this one, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right. So funny.

SPEAKER_03

All right, go ahead, finish this story.

SPEAKER_02

So then um, you see both of them on horses, and uh Maddie Reynolds he introduces himself and he to Justine and um he finds out that she's headed over to the Lawrence Ranch and he says, Well, I'll take you straight there instead of going through town. And so she's like, Okay. So yeah, it was a very good introduction. You could tell um Reynolds was just he just had this whole different demeanor with her. It was like he was not that wound up guy telling, you know, fearless Fletcher not to have a girlfriend. It was like a totally different man. Oh, yeah, Gina. Yes, Justine said buck up. Buck. That was my favorite. That's what I was saying earlier is about when I said his name was Buck. I'm like, that's what was so funny later. That's what I was gonna mention. So thanks for the reminder.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, when yeah, yeah, and he jumped up, like you said, he jumped up and sat next to the driver. Oh, Gene says sparks were flying. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, they were.

SPEAKER_03

But I wonder how long Justine's gonna be in town.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe, maybe she's gonna help her get her fashion store up and running.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you think Hannah's gonna open a store in town?

SPEAKER_02

A clothing store?

SPEAKER_03

Oh. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what's gonna happen with that. So let's see. Carter Williams, Nora's boss, who is accused of bribing a judge, arrives at the hotel to check in. He thinks Sam is a bellhop and asks him to get his bags. Sam overhears his name and then tells Nora that Carter has arrived. So Nora meets with Carter at the hotel. He says Zoe, Noah's former co-worker, is lying. He never bribed a judge, and Zoe is lying because he caught her stealing from him. He claims she stole money from him because she was having family problems. She promised to pay him back, but instead made up all these lies about him. He says he came to town for two reasons. He says, one, so that Nora doesn't lose respect uh for him and to tell her the allegations are false. And two, he wants her to write a letter saying what he just told her is true and that Zoe is lying. Nora says that she will have to think about it. So when I heard this story, I thought this story just doesn't jive. Something doesn't sound right.

SPEAKER_02

Red flags were going up all around the tour.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you're right. Exactly right. And I think Nora knew it too. That yeah, she did. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I love that scene with her because she handled it so uh mature, but but also, you know, this is a mentor to her. You know, she talked about this guy and how she loved him in a sense of what he taught her and how she respected him in a sense, and you know, she was conducting herself so maturely, and I just felt like you could just tell he was lying, and she knew it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I thought Cindy did a good job in this episode.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I did too. I did too. She had she had some more emotional um things going on, you know what I mean? But yes, her character and how she portrayed she did very well in this episode.

SPEAKER_03

This scene and then at the scene at the end. So Nora goes to see Maggie, tells her what Carter wants her to do. She tells Maggie she's not sure she believes him. Then she meets up with Carter again later in the hotel, tells him she will write this letter and have it to him later that day. He asks, What made you decide to write it? Nora, oh, this is where Nora like sticks the the shiv in him. Nora says, Because you were my mentor, uh I always looked up to you. You taught me about integrity and how a lie can destroy integrity. And Steve overhears this while he is pouring them tea and confesses about breaking the sewing machine.

SPEAKER_02

Right? She did so well that the young lad had to tell the truth.

SPEAKER_03

Uh-huh. Yeah, and then Nora said something to him like, It's okay as long as you were honest.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, at least you're being honest. And then and then you could see Carter throwing around in Carter's eyes, like, oh well, yeah, when you're sitting there with a a boy who now is confessing what he did wrong, and you're a man. I mean, he had a he had one of those moments, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yep, yep. All right, you can take over, talk about Sam and Ronnie here.

SPEAKER_02

So Sam goes to Maggie's medical office and asks if he looks like a bellman. You know, he holds his shirt up like this, and she said, No, she says, You don't look like a um bellman. And he's like, Well, I don't look like a hotel owner either. And he complains that Ronnie is calling all the shots. And she says, Well, you both share the hotel 50-50, so you have equal power. So you guys better figure out a way to compromise because neither one of you has power. You both have equal 50-50. So you better figure it out, basically. And so he's like, You could tell he has this thought in his head, like he's gonna figure out how to solve that issue, and he leaves. So he goes, uh, he goes back to the hotel and he tells Ronnie that we need to compromise. And so his first part of his compromise is he tells him uh that they'll keep the name of the hotel. And then Ronnie's like, okay, and he shakes his hand, partner, you know, and he's like, Okay, well then we'll keep uh the gold miner special on the menu. And Sam says, and just so you know, you clearly know how to run a hotel, and he's like, That's because I live it 24 hours a day. So um, you want me to keep going?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, keep going.

SPEAKER_02

So after Ronnie says Sam, uh, or after Ronnie says Sam comes up with the idea that he should live in the owner's suite, and and Ronnie chokes on his soup when Sam suggests it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that was funny. He says, I think I should take over the owner's suite. Ronnie says, That's a fantastic idea. And then he jokes and he says, What are you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Wait a minute, like what do they disagree to?

SPEAKER_03

What did you just say?

SPEAKER_02

Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Keep going.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Melissa. That Jean too, yeah. She put in there the children always teach us a lesson. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And then Melissa says Cindy is so wonderful with the children and checking on the children in between take talking to Carter. Yeah, that was nice.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, you can keep going here.

SPEAKER_02

Um, is this the later they find Nora?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So later they find Nora on the street and ask for her. Now, who is this? It's Sam and uh Ronnie, right? Sam and Ronnie find her in the street and they're asking her for legal advice about how business partners can get along. And she basically says kind of the same thing that Maggie says. You two have to come up with an agreement on how to resolve disputes and I'll put it in writing. And they're like, That's it? You're not going to help? And they're like, What good is a lawyer for? And she, they're like, Thanks for nothing. Um, so yeah, they she didn't they didn't get the advice that they were looking for from her, and she looks, you know, puzzled, like, what do you mean? I was trying to help.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Oh, yeah, talk about this next scene here.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so then we see Sam. He goes into the general store to buy some. You said lard. Is that like the cooking lard?

SPEAKER_03

It was lard, yeah. He went to buy a tuple.

SPEAKER_02

I saw this earlier and I was like, I was like, really? Is that what it was? Because I did not see that.

SPEAKER_03

At first, I thought it was a can of paint, but it was a can of lard.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, because I was confused too on that when I saw that. I'm like, okay, well, I'm sure Chad knows what he's talking about.

SPEAKER_03

That's what they cook the hungry man breakfast in.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, that's true for those pancakes, and yeah, that's true. Um, so he goes in to buy this lard and he uh drops a coin that Wally tries to hand him and gets an idea. Yeah, and so go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

I was gonna say that tub of lard is pretty gross. Yeah, it really was. Was it what who was that? Was that that was Wally, picks it up and drops it on the counter. And I'm like, oh wow, that's a lot of fat right there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but that's what they cook with. I think that's why you know people still to this day have those coffee cans full of bacon grease and stuff because they leave it on their stove to cook with.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, my dad always saved the bacon grease. Yeah, yep, and he would fry stuff in it. All right, keep going.

SPEAKER_02

So then Sam goes back to the hotel and he tells Ronnie, he said, We're going to flip a coin when we did we can't decide on something. And then Ronnie, you know, surprisingly agrees. And so they flip a coin to see who's going to live in the owner's suite. And guess who wins? It would be Sam.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I'm curious to know where is Ronnie gonna live?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. That's a good question.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I can't believe he's not gonna put up a fight, he's just gonna leave his home. I mean, he lives there.

SPEAKER_02

I would be surprised because Sam and Maggie are together. So is Maggie gonna want to live in the hotel with him? Because I'm sure it's not as big as an actual house.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

So I don't know. I kind of wondered about that too.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Jay's here. Hey, he wants to know. Did you change did you change your username, Jay? I don't know. He wants to know where my mounty hat is. Yeah, I know. I haven't had time to look for it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, Jay, let me tell you the story. No, just kidding.

SPEAKER_03

I keep forgetting to look for it, but I gotta look for it. So Cricket's gonna text me on my next day off to remind me to look for my mounty hat because I never remember to do it. Yeah, so I'm not sure what. Yeah, so Sam said something to Joe, right? About having Ronnie live with Joe take over, because I guess Sam lives with Joe. So he said something about maybe Ronnie can live with you. Take my room and we'll see if that really comes to fruition. All right, over at the Lawrence Ranch, there is a leak in the roof. Whoops. There's a leak in the roof, and the hay is getting wet. Oh, Victoria says Ronnie is going to live with spicy Tess in the barn. Alright, so there's a leak in the roof, hay's getting wet. Hannah gets back from trying to pick up Justine, tells Wyatt the stagecoach is late. He says he will, or she says she will help him spread the hay. Because uh Wyatt says it's gonna mold pretty quick. He talks about his rodeo injuries, uh, says he got pinned under a bull. His injuries ended his rodeo career, and Hannah's Hannah's uncle took him in and made him a rancher. Then Hannah shares her back injury, says she heard it, falling off a ladder while putting up a window display. Then Justine makes it to the Lawrence Ranch and wants to have her meeting with Hannah. Hannah puts the ranch's needs first and tells Justine their meeting will have to wait until tomorrow. Then Reynolds escorts her to town. And oh Jay says hello to you.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, hello Jay! Long time no uh text or whatever you want to call it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he hasn't been on here in a while. Yeah, so that's about all nothing really exciting in that scene. Like I said, this was the my least least interested storyline in the episode.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and I think they had to not have it so exciting for them because Justine had to be exciting with with Constable Reynolds, see. So it had to be a little bit, you know, yeah, okay taken from them to give to them, see.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. All right, now you can talk about Justine and Reynolds and the conversation they have.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so they make it back to the hotel where Hannah made Justine a reservation, and she tells um she tells him, she tells Reynolds she hopes to get her ring back, and Reynolds wants to know if the ring is from a fiance. And Justine is like, no, it was my grandmother's wedding ring. And Reynolds says, Well, we need to meet up again so I can get your witness testimony. And she's like, Well, why don't we meet here in the morning?

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. But then we don't get to see their meeting.

SPEAKER_02

No, maybe that's next episode.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe, yeah, I was gonna say, maybe we'll see that in the next episode.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it looks it's something to look forward to, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They're drawing us in, see?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. The episode ends with Fletcher stopping Nora on the street. Says, I need you to come to the jail. There is someone who wants to see you. In the jail is Carter Williams, and he confesses everything. Carter says, You made me want to confess, you reminded me why I wanted to be a lawyer. Nora asks Carter if she was a good lawyer, and he says the best. Then Nora exits the Mounty office, Fletcher asks, Is everything alright? And Nora says it will be. And then the episode ends with her walking off into the darkness.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I thought that was a good scene for her and Carter.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that was, yeah. Yeah, and like I said before, I thought um I thought um Cindy did a good job in that scene.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I did too. Kind of more emotional than we've seen probably in any of the scenes in this series, I think. I mean, if I can recall. So yeah, it was definitely uh I mean it was kind of emotional. Like, you know, here she's she gave and so much respect to this guy, and then to have him answer her, and it just probably just made her feel good and and you know, made her know that she's doing everything that she should be doing as a professional and as a human being, in a sense.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you could see Cindy had a little tear in her eye.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, I could see some emotional.

SPEAKER_03

Was I a good lawyer?

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And and she said, or or were you just what did she say? Was I a good lawyer, or were you just like patronizing me or using me to or something or well, I forget what she said. Something like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can't remember her exact words, but yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I thought this was another good episode.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you know what my response is.

SPEAKER_03

I know, I know what you're gonna say. You're gonna say you didn't like the episode.

SPEAKER_02

This episode was phenomenal. Like, you know, come on now.

SPEAKER_03

And you know what? I think they just keep getting better. They do go.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, they really do, yes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they keep stacking up and getting better each episode, I think.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Well, last week when we saw it on the virtual screening, I had made a comment in there and I said, uh, watch out when when calls the heart, because we got four power couples coming on, man.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. So yeah, I think the the show has found its stride and is kind of moving right along.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. I agree.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And it was like I had talked to Gene earlier, I think this week, and we were talking about the episode. And the one thing that you know she had mentioned, and and I agreed with her also was it had so much movement in the sense of, you know, here was an action scene, and then we had another action scene, and you you just didn't have time to like sit and be like, Oh, well, this is going nowhere. It was going everywhere, and it was great.

SPEAKER_03

Except for the boring scenes between Yan and Hannah.

SPEAKER_02

But they really weren't that boring. He was kind of sticking up for her, you know. So you know, they they have to have some some scenes come down so the other scenes can rise.

SPEAKER_03

So you know, so yes, yeah, yeah. The stagecoach robbery in it, that was fun and exciting.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yes, J Jim and Justine are bringing sparks.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Oh, Kat said it was well balanced, yeah, it was.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, very much so.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Jim, yeah, bringing sparks, but humor too, yeah. That's true, Gene. Yeah, bring some humor too. Yep. All right, so I've been thinking about we all know who's gonna wind up with who, right?

SPEAKER_02

Well, we think because I saw an episode preview and it showed the preacher with Nora again, so I don't know. Who knows? Maybe maybe uh Fletcher's gonna go off to the field. You never know.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's not going anywhere. They just they just maybe he's gonna go to the field because maybe he's not.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I don't know. I hope not because I want him and um Nora to get together.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe there could be like a uh season cliffhanger where he where he like leaves town, maybe. Yeah, but he decides to go back in the field and leaves like a yeah. That's that's a possibility.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yeah, yeah, very much so.

SPEAKER_03

So I was thinking about these couples, and I was thinking about my dream couples, okay. Couples that I would like to see together. Okay, all right, but then really think about this. Uh Sam and Hannah. Okay. Because I don't think I don't feel like a lot of chemistry between between Sam and Maggie. I don't know about you.

SPEAKER_02

I do, but it's not as strong as some of the other couples. I'll say that. I don't but I think they're good together.

SPEAKER_03

That kind of cough caught me off guard when was it last season or whenever they threw them together and they didn't even really know each other, remember when that happened?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Maybe she's just after his money.

SPEAKER_03

So I don't I like Sam and Hannah. I think Sam and Hannah should get together. I think they'd be a better couple. All right, ready for the all right, Maggie and Joe.

SPEAKER_02

Because he was too old for her.

SPEAKER_03

I know I missed their chemistry from the first season. Remember, they were they were so good together in the first season.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I can't see that one.

SPEAKER_03

You don't see that one, okay. No, I do Wyatt and Lucy, of course.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Jeez, too. Hold on.

SPEAKER_03

Because I think I think Wyatt's too old for Hannah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, Hannah looks like she's like 25, and Wyatt looks like he's 40.

SPEAKER_02

I mean does not look 40, Jack. No, uh no. See, I like I like Hannah and Wyatt together.

SPEAKER_00

You do? Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I do.

SPEAKER_00

All right.

SPEAKER_02

I like Lucy and Wyatt, but honestly, I like Hannah. Hannah's just got the innocence about her, and and Wyatt's got that rough around the edges, but yet he's this really nice guy underneath. And I can see that he likes Hannah. So, no, I think there's another another relationship brewing under there.

SPEAKER_03

All right, all right. And then another one here, Nora and Reverend Daniels, even though we haven't seen too much of them. But they they were good in those scenes they had.

SPEAKER_02

They were they were good in those scenes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not ruling that one out.

SPEAKER_03

You're not ruling that one out. Okay, okay, okay. And then the last one I came up with, you're gonna love this one. Constable Reynolds and Tess.

SPEAKER_02

All right, Chad, I'm off of here. No, just kidding.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely not. Yeah, everyone in the chat likes Wyatt and Hannah together.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you're outvoted, sorry.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't, I don't, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, well, on that note, who could we set up Lucy with?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. Lucy. Yeah, who would yeah, who's available for Lucy?

SPEAKER_02

Jesse Hutch. No, just kidding.

SPEAKER_03

He's in jail.

SPEAKER_02

I know.

SPEAKER_03

There's no one left, right?

SPEAKER_02

There's no maybe he'll maybe he'll get transferred to another location and hurt himself, and she has to take him back to town and they're stranded and they fall in love. You never know.

SPEAKER_03

Well, unless Nora winds up with fearless Fletcher, then Reverend is a little bit of a big thing. Oh, well, that's true. That is true. Yeah. But Lucy, Lucy's gotta be with a rancher.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, who says she's gotta be with a rancher? Didn't you watch the uh ever after movie when she's like, well, you know, a fish can't be with a bird, and he's like, unless you give it wings. So it's possible.

SPEAKER_03

Wait, what movie you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Ever After with Drew Barrymore.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, what does she say?

SPEAKER_02

So she meets Da Vinci in the woods or something, and he's got these these um like wooden shoes, and you can walk on water, and so the guy's walking on water and she's swimming in the ocean or in the in the thing, and it was something about during this time, and she brings it up and she says, Well, a fish can't be with a bird, basically. And he's like, Well, unless you give the fish wings, then they both can have wings together and be okay. I think there was something along those lines in the movie, but it was it was really cute.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, you know, it was so oh okay, possible, all right, very possible.

SPEAKER_02

Now I'm gonna have to find that exact quote and read it to you next episode. We do.

SPEAKER_03

All right. Well, all right. So we both like the episode, but you don't like my couples. All right, no problem. Now we're oh, there you go.

SPEAKER_02

Did you see what Gene said? What she said, Lucy is great. Here's your next part, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Yeah. And should we reveal our mystery item?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_03

I I I go first. I brought a bad one. I brought a bad one. I can only forgot to do it again. And I just remembered the last minute, so I grabbed this.

SPEAKER_02

It's probably keys or an apple.

SPEAKER_03

And what's Jay say? I look forward to hearing your take on the show and seeing Cricut again.

SPEAKER_02

Thanks, Jay.

SPEAKER_03

So I grabbed this last minute this morning.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. What is it?

SPEAKER_03

I know you can guess it.

SPEAKER_02

It's either a biscuit or it's tea.

SPEAKER_03

I couldn't think of any items.

SPEAKER_02

Biscuit tea. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, you ready? You ready? Can you see it? Can you see it? Oops.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's a coin. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

It was a coin. I tried to flip it. I couldn't catch it.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, it's still something. It's still a coin.

SPEAKER_03

It's a coin to represent the coin bar between Ronnie and Sam.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, so you ready for mine?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know where it flew. All right. I gotta let me guess yours.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Let's see. Well, how can I guess it? Because I don't remember what was in the episode. Uh let's see. You bought oh, you brought a tub of lard.

SPEAKER_02

You're so funny. No, I didn't even know that was in the show until you had that in your notes. Are you ready for it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Pajamas!

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

I've been wearing them the whole time, Chad.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't know those were pajamas you had on. I thought it was. Yeah, they're pajamas, see? Oh, I didn't realize that. Oh, that's a good one.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Well, you made a comment about the sun and the moon, the stars, and I was like, oh well, well, the stars aligned for Justine and Jim, so you know it's appropriate.

SPEAKER_03

So kind of celestial pajamas. That is a good one. It was right in front of my eyes, too.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, right in front of your eyes. Didn't even know.

SPEAKER_03

I can't even see what's right in front of me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't know what else to do. And I was like, you know what? I'll just put on my pajamas.

SPEAKER_03

That's a good one because Ronnie, Ronnie was wearing his PJs. Sure was. Yeah, that's really good.

SPEAKER_02

What better way to relax on a podcast than wear pajamas?

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Yep. So there's a um a screening of the next Jay didn't like my coin that I brought.

SPEAKER_02

I just read that. Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt you. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

So there's a screening of the next episode.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

In 13 minutes. Sure is. On Great American Pure Flix's YouTube channel.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

And also on the Pure Flix website and app. So if you want to catch that, Wyatt and Hannah are going to be watching it with Bill.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

And then it also airs tomorrow, right? On Great American Pure Flix. Start streaming.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

And then of course Sunday night on Great American Family. Ronnie's coming to your house, cricket. That's what Victoria says.

SPEAKER_02

He better bring the popcorn.

SPEAKER_03

The coin was a la good last-minute mystery item. Oh, see, Kat liked it. Thanks, Kat. Yeah, it really was.

SPEAKER_02

It was it was in there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was in the episode. Yeah. So we'll have to see what happens in the next episode. Is Justine still going to be around? I'm guessing she will be, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

I hope so.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we didn't.

SPEAKER_02

She can't make an entrance like that and not come back.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, yeah, yeah. We didn't see Tess in this episode. I wonder if Tess will be seen in the next episode.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because what's going on? Nothing's going on with her. They they caught the guy that kidnapped her, and then that was it. That was the end of her. She gave money to Lucy's father, remember?

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um I wonder if we're ever gonna find out what uh Grumpy's invention is. I wonder if I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I hope so.

SPEAKER_03

I wonder if they're gonna drop that storyline if we're ever gonna find out what it was.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. We'll have to wait and see.

SPEAKER_03

I know. And the other thing I was wondering, how many episodes are we getting? Are we only getting six episodes?

SPEAKER_02

I think that's what they said, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because that's what we got last season. I thought I was hoping they would do more.

SPEAKER_02

I know, I was too. But you know, maybe I mean, because that's just not enough.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Not enough. Yeah, we need more.

SPEAKER_03

So we're halfway through then. I know, it's so sad, Chad.

SPEAKER_02

If there's only six, I'm already sad. See?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, hopefully your boy will be in the next episode.

SPEAKER_02

I know, and I'm like, I wonder when they recorded all these, because you know, he has a mustache now in real life, I think, still.

SPEAKER_03

So like, did they record all of them last fall? Because you can see all the you can see all the fall leaves in the background, which is really nice. I like seeing all the fall colors, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I like seeing that for the time period, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so they shot it last fall.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So that's it, hopefuls. Thanks again for being here, and we will see you next week. Uh oh, yeah. We will see you next week. Until then, you keep the faith, keep smiling, keep your friends close, and keep your great American family close.

SPEAKER_02

Bye, everybody.
